Dont Worry, Be Happy

As a supporter of FC Barcelona, this summer can seem like a nightmare. For starters, two of the best players in the world have signed for our eternal enemy, R**l M****D. Ricky Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo are two footballers that can give even the top managers a sleepless night, and that was when they were playing for Milan and United respectively. Now they will be in the same starting Xl. After getting over the initial shock of those signings, I then wake up to the news that M****D have signed Karim Benzema, some argue the best striker of his generation. Overall, they have signed four players to our....wait a minute......ZERO players signed

These signings have not only added to their product on the field, but there name off of it. At the end of the first Galactico era, the M****D brand wasn't worth the paper it was written on. Five early exits in the champions league, with the latest being the most humiliating, have left los merengue furious. Those events and countless others have led to the end of the Calderon regime and the return of Florentino Perez. Millions of euros later.... the blancos are back in the business. They are all over ESPN, even my soccer-hating friends tell me about M****D.....SICKENING!!!!!!!

Meanwhile, the Blaugrana half of Barcelona is becoming restless. The beginning of the summer brought the potential of Zlatan Ibrahimovic ( Golden Boot winner of the Serie A). After weeks of speculation, there looks to be no presentation of the big Swedish international at the Camp Nou. Then our sights were turned to David Villa. Despite various sums of euro being offered, all indications point to no Villa in blaugrana. The latest news links us with Pichichi winner Diego Forlan (Why?) and Liverpool enforcer and Argentine captain Javier Mascherano(Pointless). As of now, all we have to show for this transfer season is (a POSSIBLE deal with) Keirrison, who is young and was the 2008 top scorer in the Brazilian Serie A with 21 goals. But don't we already have a young gifted striker?, what's his name?......BOJAN!!!!

Along with our problem of adding player, we are ruining relationships with our current bunch. We took forever to sign Victor Valdes and YaYa Toure to extensions and the relationship between Barca and Samu Eto'o seems to be damaged beyond repair (which ironically was the case a year ago). Other players such as Gudjohnsen and Hleb could be on their way out as well. And our "genius" (cough, cough) president Joan Laporta isn't making us any friends in the media.

All of this and the movements of our rival may have the average Barca fan worried, but a wise supporter sees no cause for concern.

Do I have to remind anyone of what happened last season? Lets have a quick review. We won the copa del rey, la liga, and the last one is on the tip of my tongue...the trophy that every team is after, you know....the big silver one...oh wait......THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE. Not only did Barca win it, but they beat what some were calling the greatest 11 in EPL history, along with Sir Alex....we all know what he has accomplished. And better yet, we did it our way, the pass and move football as orgasmic as Megan Foxx. The same way Barca played all year from The Bernabeau, to Stamford Bridge.

Saturday Nights at the New Camp displayed the finest footballers on earth. The legendary 4-3-3 struck fear in all opposition. The 3 leaders of the attack were Leo Messi, Samu Eto'o and Thierry Henry, who scored 99 goals between them in all competitions.....you couldn't do that on FIFA if you tried. Holding down the midfield was Xavi, Iniesta, and the Yaya. Xavi is a throwback, the true representation of Spanish football and football's current number 1 puller of strings. Iniesta has it all. There is NOTHING on a pitch that he can't do and now that the goals are coming, he is showing his true potential and guess what?....he's 25, the sky is the limit for him. Yaya is what you might call.....a BEAST....he is feared throughout la liga and Europe. Not only is he a player who can add to the attack from the defensive midfield but he can play center back....effectively even, and not just against a Sunday league squad but against Chelsea and United. Once again, the sky is the limit for him. The back four and Valdes are often ridiculed but step up in big occasions. Victor Valdes single-handily won Barca the Champions League, not Iniesta or Messi or the refs( as most haters and Chelsea fans would think). He made saves that were superhuman at times and showed confidence. And then there's Pep....The Man....The Myth.....The Treble

After remembering what we accomplished last season, lets play a game. Did R**l win a trophy last year? if so, what was it?.....Believe it or not they did....The supercopa. It went down hill after that for the blancos. Despite a late rally in the 2nd half of the season, which saw them play great football, they crashed out of the the champions league and were outclassed by Barca in the Bernabeau. Even a bat could see the problem was a poor defense, and that's with a top 2 world class 'keeper. So what does M****D see as the solution to their defensive problems? More attackers.

And don't forget people, switching leagues takes time to adjust. Just ask our on Thierry Henry! It's difficult at the moment to say whether Kaka and Ronaldo(Portuguese one) will be able to make the adjustment. Kaka hasn't been the same player that danced all over Manchester United in the Champions League. As for Benzema, the question has to be asked, is he that much better than Gonzalo Higuian? And with Van Nistelroy and R**l Gonzalez, they will have the selection problems that once plagued us. M****D did add Raul Albiol, the former Valencia defender, but is he the answer?

The truth is that nobody knows for certain what will happen this season. Barca could win everything again or we could be easily pushed aside as los merengue steal our accolades. The only certain thing is that no one raises a trophy for most money spent. The message to all followers of The Futbol Club Barcelona is to relax and have patience, we have three trophies that speak for us.
